The MNS chief would be a happy man today.
Mumbai defeats UP in the Ranji trophy finals.
MNS manages to drive out all Pakistani terrorists out of Mumbai. No .. wait. Just the comedians ?? Yeah but still.
MNS forces all shopkeepers to take books by Pakistani authors off the shelf. Now if only I could name one book by a Pakistani author.
But just when I thought that everyone will truly fear the MNS now, this snap comes around (edit : since this was causing confusion, focus on the pink turban in the snap and not the traditional costume. Not just turban, ‘pink’ turban).

Whatever be your opinion abt the anti-Bhayya campaign by MNS, I think MNS deserves a pat for this anti Pakde campaign…These Adnans & Atifs have no right to make money in India when their countrymen like kasabs are doing Tajs & Oberois… I will be happy if now they demand sending back paki players from IPL…I would even say that ESPN Star should send back Wasim Akram if they want to do business in India…one rule for all…
And I am quite sure now these page 3 south Mumbai wallahs will do the nautanki for freedom of expression & how art unites people & some such crap…
And if you think traditional feta is something funny to laugh on, then how about a lungi?

The point is that online petitions, anti-Pakistani comedian drive, the anti-north Indian campaign make us feel really good that we are doing something but in reality, eclipse the real issues.
Btw, it is a well known fact that the funding for terror activities comes from the middle east.
About the snap, you might have missed the point by a few light years.

@veda : Yeah I do not read a lot. But I am sure the MNS reads even lesser !
I will have a look at the book you recommended.
And thanks for the appreciation.

Are you the author of this article http://tinyurl.com/75r4tx ?
If yes, did you cover the Sawai Gandharva or do you know someone who covered it in detail and put it up ? And is there any way of finding the Sawai videos online ? Of course, this might be nowhere near your work area, just a long shot.

Yup. I covered the Sawai. Unfortunately (or not), Pune Mirror’s take on it wasn’t to appreciate or review the festival. We went around looking for people who wouldn’t otherwise be mentioned. (like guys who never buy a ticket because their house overlooks the venue).
Check YouTube for videos. I also met a couple of guys who record the event. I could give them a call and find out. They do officially release VCDs and DVDs.

@veda : Oh thanks for the reply !
So you work for Pune Mirror ? I am sure you wouldn’t take a lot of the content on this blog too nicely if you are a journalist [:)].
About Sawai, unfortunately I am not in Pune so I was looking for an alternative to the locally released CDs. For such a huge programme, I really don’t know why they do not have better access to technology.
Of course, I must admit that being there is a different world altogether. But they could use some technology for people who want to watch it but can’t be there.

I think if I take journalism seriously, then there’s no point writing, especially since I write for the Pune Mirror. (Have you read it, btw?) So your blog’s a good laugh and talks about stuff that I’d actually like to have published!
As for the Sawai, you’ll just have to wait for your next visit to Pune to pick up the CDs.

Yeah I have read the Pune Mirror’s online articles a few times. My favorite without doubt is Dr. Mahendra Watsa’s column.
Do you people actually get to see Him in person ??
Jokes apart, the content at Pune Mirror is fairly decent and serves the needs of Puneties better than Newsline and Pune Times (of course they have some enviable talented page 3 journalists).
Again my memories of Newsline and Pune Times is about 2 years old; they could have degraded even further by now.
Btw, my comment there was in reference to the innumerable things I have said against journalists and reporters on this blog. By your reply I am guessing you aren’t a full-time journalist.
As for Sawai, I have to get it from Pune. Sad.

Dr. Watsa lives in Bombay. He’s about 80 years old, and yes, all the questions he answers are genuine. We’ve never met him (I think the Mumbai Mirror has that privilege), but there are telephonic and email exchanges.
I am part of the permanent staff here, and most of the innumerable things you’ve said against reporters, is true. The thing is that we’ve got a real tight deadline and the tv guys have it worse.. so you get caught up in delivering the product rather than the product itself.
Anyway.. we could continue the chat on gtalk.. it might be easier!

I must admit I have never seen things from the other side. I can just see what I have access to.
It is easier to sit on a wall and comment; universal fact. Journalists work really hard in worse conditions than professionals; its just that like you said, people get caught up in delivering the product.
Again, it would be stupid to blame the messenger.

I think people from Shivsena read this blog & my comments

The demand to debar Pakis from IPL comes within a day I wrote the same here
http://www.saamna.com/2009/Jan/20/Link/Main4.htm
Now I bet all my money on protests from page 3 community if this issue picks up.
I saw some discussion regarding Pune Mirror … I can’t avoid to make a comment on that crappy piece of paper (pls don’t take it personally)… i saw that paper for the first time this Dec…oh boy…that oozes sleaze… I am surprised why MNS/SS haven’t come out on streets against Mirror… I hope they will after they read this comment

Hehehe .. I am pretty damn sure they don’t read this blog as there have been no instances of stone throwing on this blog or my effigies being burnt.
Yeah the IPL thing was expected right ?
I am not sure anyone would bother speaking out against the IPL issue. And personally speaking, I do not consider sportsmen as artistes so I wouldn’t be too bothered. Again, this is a grey area because at the end both are about entertainment; it is just the path that makes the difference according to me.
I haven’t seen Pune Mirror yet, all I know about it is the online version where some articles are decent and Mahendra Watsa’s column is just aahaa. But seriously, does it even beat Pune Times in uselessness ??
About MNS/SS, I am not sure if they are against sleaze in newspapers. In fact, I hope they don’t come after you for making such comments [:)].
