Chyetanya Kunte, who in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attacks wrote a piece about the shoddy journalism shown by most channels and in particular about the insensitive questioning by ‘journalists’ like Barkha Dutt has been made to unconditionally apologize for his piece.
For those interested, the original piece is here (scroll down to the end, the post is dated Nov. 30th) thanks to Google cache.
Personally, I did not find the piece offensive in any way; it just reflected the thoughts of a majority. Legally too, I am not sure there was something that could get him into trouble (any legal experts here ?). But being just another common man, he chose the best path out.
What makes it ironic is that he was made to retract it by a media outlet, who are supposed to carry the baton of free speech.
