translated as : (to another fellow being) Why should I get punished if I don’t obey you ?
After the last two posts about intolerance, what better time to post a link to this superb song from the final episode of Coke Studio : Season Two.
Sung by Ali Zafar, this is in my humble opinion, the best song of this season.
Some excerpts of the lyrics :
Tune kya banayi
Tune kya sajayi
Sab kiya hai usne tune
Baatein banayi…
Jo tera khuda hai
Woh mera khuda hai
Tera kahan na manu toh
Kyon mujhe saza hai
What can I say. Superb. The timing of this song is perfect not just for Pakistan, but for so many in India, for every fundamentalist who doesn’t realize he is one, for every person who believes religion is anything but personal.
Anywho, here’s the song :
I liked the fact that the song was written in lower scales. A messenger sounds so much more humble in lower scales. That is why a the title track of Swades works so much better than Rahman’s Vande Mataram.

I urge you to listen to all the songs of the final episode. I haven’t seen such fine songs in a single set for a long long time. I hope to post a music review of the final episode sometime .. Insha’allah.

Its very lyrical. And motivating. But do you really think its the “best song” from season 2? …I am surprised by Ali Zafar’s new avatar in season 2 compared to his pop one that I knew of…and hes definitely earned a new respect for himself… but my favourites from season 2 have to be Noori and Atif Aslam. Mind you Javed Bashir from first episode was pretty darnnn impressive. Kudos to him for Ajj Latha Naee’o.

@brok3n : Agree with what you said. Like I said, I hope to write a detailed review of the other songs, and musically there were many that were far better. But this song is just so important and relevant. It is not great musically, or in singing, just lyrically. But everything works very nicely.
Agree with your observations about Atif, Noori and Javed Bashir.
Okay I really want to write that review now.

@broken : For some reason, your blog URL shows up as http://brokenlifetales@blogspot.com/ in every single comment. Intentional ?

If you go ahead with that review…I’ll definitely post up my two cents too…=P
I think the link just shows up itself… I’ll try omitting it from next time. Hopefully won’t show up then.

Okay I don’t get your smileys at all.
You don’t have to omit it, just change the @ to . once and it’ll remember. You do want traffic to your blog, right ? [:)]

okay so a “=p” = :p ..which is the one with the tongue out..o.o…… and a “o.o” = a blinky smiley.. and a “=/” = a feeling bad smiley…. I think thats when I use ‘em…unless they’re just impulsive lol.
I totally missed the @ ..gahhh…so I re-checked and it does have a . than an @ ..weird that it shows up as an @.
=| …….<–this represents a dazed smiley.
