Nanavati commission report out.

This is a slightly delayed post on the Nanavati Commission giving a clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi AND the government AND the police in the Godhra incident AND the riots that followed it. In that case, I am just glad that the commission did not get too carried away and name Modi as the mastermind of the Godhra train fire, thus, completely alienating him from the riots.

On the other hand, we have the Bannerjee Panel, whose findings, with the same evidence, are pretty much the opposite. More details and links here.

I think a basic statistical (and geeky) analysis on commissions in India would reveal that the mean of all reports in an issue is exactly zero, and further analysis might prove them to be either uncorrelated or correlated with the coefficient -1. The truth, we may sadly never know.

This is not a discussion on Narendra Modi’s organizational skills post-Godhra-riots.
