Alright, so? Beyond trying to force sympathy out of readers and see a non-existent irony, it doesn’t do much — because it is an irrelevant comparison. It doesn’t even give an idea of the magnitude of the problem, or a decipherable comparison.

This is one of the problems I have with P. Sainath. I would much rather prefer a journalist who reports honestly then a journalist who wants to make a difference by forcibly evoking pity.
