On the subject of design, I came across this design for a keyhole. Keyholes are annoying, and the worst part is that we don’t even realize how annoying they are.

Imagine if keyholes were designed thus — simple, elegant and useful :

There are 3 steps involved in the use of a keyhole: Insert key, rotate it, remove it. It’s almost like we never gave these a thought ever since the keyhole was invented.


There are hazaar definitions of good design, and one of them is:

When you see good design, you’ll think, “It should’ve always been like this. Why hasn’t it been like this?”
