The prolific Salil Tripathi manages to write another fine piece on another blast.
There was one bit I found odd though:
Then in 2002, after a Muslim mob allegedly torched a train compartment, killing 58 Hindu activists, Hindus in Gujarat hit back, killing hundreds of Muslims.
Specifically, the hind of uncertainty — ‘allegedly’ — in the first half, and certainty in the second.
But I was told that since there are three main versions of the event — two of which corroborate the Muslim mob torching the compartment theory and one which says the fire started inside the compartment — it is only fair to use ‘allegedly’.
